Olvidemos los esfuerzo de todos los jugadores alrededor del mundo para luchar contra el sistema. El retraso en las descargas, perdiendo una hora o dos encontrar un archivo con información sobre el juego, y otra para descargarlo solo molestan. Imagine if gamers around the world had an easier time getting their hands on a new game! They wouldn't have to wait for a download or spend hours trying to find a file with information about the game and another hour downloading it. If the game they're dying to play is so popular they can't play it for months or they don't truly own the game, they'd be forced to act. So they act, giving rise to two critical issues: piracy and warez. More than any other online activity the Internet has made the act of pirating games illegal, but that doesn't mean that piracy itself is illegal. Game developers spend tens of thousands of dollars to create their products; why shouldn't pirates pay for them? The answer is simple: games will cost more if all copies are sold legitimately. Price hikes ruin game sales and kill developers' business models which means many end up shutting down rather than risk bankruptcy due to rising download prices. Piracy, warez and other forms of piracy are responsible for at least $45 Billion in lost revenues to the game industry. Rising download prices are not the only issue caused by piracy, there are several others. The most evident one is that because game developers can no longer charge what numerous companies charge for their software, an increasing number of people will choose to pirate instead of purchasing legitimate copies. This means less revenue for developers, which leads to a dead zone for many of them. Also of note is the rise in online servers being more readily accessible for all copies worldwide of a single game. With so many gamers having access to free or pirated copies of a game, the demand for that game falls. This causes complete market saturation, effectively putting the nail in many developers' coffins. The rise in piracy has also negatively impacted development of new games. Developers are often not able to afford to hire the necessary staff to make their games, meaning that only the biggest companies can afford the resources needed to create future titles like pop culture blockbusters like "Max Payne". The lack of new titles available for purchase is also bad news for consumers, as developers cannot rely on them selling well simply because no one will be available to buy it.
